Help! Get this stinkin' track bar off!
I was taking off the track bar on my wife's 00 XJ and ran into a snag. I
can't loosen the bolt on the upper end (by the body). I pushed, pulled, tug, beat, cussed, yelled, and it wouldn't move. I sprayed it with PB Blaster, let it sit, and repeated. I soaked it again and let it sit overnight. I came home today and tried it again. Same results. I unbolted the axle end, thinking that may be causing strain on the other end, and that didn't help a bit. I sprayed it AGAIN and will see what happens tomorrow. I'm afraid of breaking the support by the body (stock.. which I hear are really weak). Any thoughts on this? If I take the support off, I'm going to need a vice or something to hold the trackbar. That's why I figured this was such a good idea. Oh, by the way, yes I did take the cotter (sp?) pin out. Eric 00 XJ LTD 99 TJ SE |

I had to grind the nut end off mine and then pound it out from that end with
a bfh and big punch/chisel. It had worn a grove into the bolt too which made it damn hard pound out. If it's that bad, I'll just buy a new, stronger, support and take the old
one off with the old track bar still attached. Then put the all-new assembly in.
