Help!
I ordered a Jeep Rubicon on April 20th. I was told it was going to take
anywhere between 4-6 weeks for delivery. They made me give a $500.00 deposit--maybe deposit isn't the right word--I had to give them my credit card number to make sure that I was serious about this purchase. 4-6 weeks seemed like a looong time, but I was willing to go for it, after all I've been patiently waiting for my first Jeep for 30 years. When I ordered the Jeep, the dealer added $600 to the original deal we had on a Jeep that he said he could get for me out of Texas, because he said the MSRP went up. He couldn't get that Jeep so we decided to order. The Jeep was offered to me with a $2000 cash back and 3.9% financing at EP. The problems: I talked to the dealer 2 weeks ago and asked if they knew when my Jeep would arrive. They said it is currently in b1 status--or something like that--it is built it has a vin # and everything. It should be shipped in the next few days. It should be here in 2 weeks. GREAT! I talked to the dealer today (2 weeks later) and asked "When will my Jeep get here?" It's been 7 weeks since I ordered it. The dealer said, "I just talked to Chrysler, the Jeep is in b1 status and they will ship it July 2nd." July 2nd!?! WTF, that's 4 weeks from today plus another 2 weeks for it to ship! That's 6 weeeks from now! Not only that, but as of June 30th the $2000 rebate will be obsolete. Couple that with skyrocketing APR I'll be paying thousands more than the original deal. I'm || this close to canceling my Jeep, but will they will keep my $500?? The dealer said "Well maybe the rebate will be $3000 in July!" I called his bluff and said, "No way, you and I both know that Jeep Wrangler sales are way up, and there is more demand than supply right now, there is no way that the rebate will still be available to me in July." I don't get it. I reeeeeally want this Jeep, but I cannot afford to pay that much more for a Jeep. I'm a little upset right now, I know that there are some dealers on this ng, and I was hoping to get some inside advice. Should I tell the dealer..."If I don't get my Jeep for exactly what we agreed on I will cancel my order." The only problem then is the $500--that and I lose the Jeep of my dreams. The dealership is effectively 7 weeks off on their original guesstimation of when the new Jeep would arrive. I would not have ordered the jeep if I knew it would take 3 months to get here. way too much can happen in 3 months. I have fulfilled my part of the bargain I waited more than the originally stated 4-6 week delivery, they keep changing the deal. Will I lose 500 bones? What can I do to save them? If I would have bought my Jeep from Jeepwarehouse in the first place there probably wouldn't have been any problems. But now I am stuck with higher interest rates and possibly no rebate. What would you do? I don't want to lose this Jeep, but I honestly cannot afford it if things go the way it looks like their going. Thanks, Muuurgh |

That has much more of an impact than any phone call. Especially if it's in the showroom where other potential customers can hear the complaints. At this point you could call DC customer satisfaction and discuss this problem with them. For extra effect, call the dealer and ask them for the phone number and explain why you want it. :) As Chris says, if your going to exit the deal, tell the credit card company and have any charge reversed (or at least put in dispute). Remember, you negotiated a price and paid money in good faith. That's a contract. The dealer can not change terms without your permission otherwise they breach the contract and your free to walk. Don't know your pension for lawyers but if you have a legal friend this could be interesting. Don't ya hate the bait and switch assholes?
Call the credit card company and they will kill the deposit transaction due to fraud.
