I have a 97 TJ and i was looking into buy a hard top do i have to buy full
doors or will half doors with soft upper work?

They will fit, but expect flapping on the hwy.

I could be wrong here, but I am under the impression you have to buy the
same 'make' of top that the doors are or the openings won't fit.
