The mud slinging is just part of the process...these guys have to say anything opposite their opponent's point of view. But there are more similarities than differences between the two major candidates IMHO, in this or just about any election year. The differences are in the details, and the details in an election year are all that gets broadcast. I will say that I don't like the way direction the Republican party has taken under the Bushes...I liked it better under Reagan. And I am not registered with any political party...and I never vote a straight party ticket. Wayy of topic now...here, I'll get back on it....I don't own a firearm of any kind. I have considered purchasing and training since my children were born, but haven't decided yet if, in my case, the accident risk trumps the need for personal defense. but I do and have always believed what Bill posted...when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. * * * Matt Macchiarolo www.townpeddler.com www.wolverine4wd.org "We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty." -Edward R. Read this link for the federal law lowdown: http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs.cmu.e...st/nfa_faq.txt Note the impossible hoops you have to jump through, such as : "It is also not possible for anyone, except government entities, to register an existing NFA weapon that is not registered, except within 24 hours after one is made by a class 2 NFA manufacturer." NFA weapons, or National Firearms Act weapons, are also known as Class 2 or semi-incorrectly as Class 3. These include all full-auto and burst mode weapons. The fact that these weapons are available at all (albeit by a loophole that makes it impossible in practice to own one without buying off the permit agencies) is used by anti-gun people to make a nonsensical argument. If you ever did arrive at legally owning one, your name would be smeared across so many fed databases that you couldn't ever use it for crime anyway. Also, if you get out and use a silencer (like in the military), they're pretty useless and disappointing. I used several varieties and none is very effective. Just get a flash suppressor and make longer, better shots. :) Matt |
