fuel tank question on '93 YJ
i noticed my '93 YJ hasn't gone below 1/4 tank according to the gauge (it's
actually a hair over 1/4 mark) I figured because it sat a long time, maybe this is where the empty mark really is. Today, I decided to fill the tank because I was at "that mark" and i din't want to run out of gas (although someday i'll run it right out and really see if it goes to the empty mark) I filled the tank until the pump stopped. It took 17.513 gallons (it must have a 20 gallon tank or conversion or whatever) and now the gauge is 1/4 PAST full. What are the chances that it will drop down to empty if i run it empty? (My '95 had a screwey sending unit that needed to be replaced and those bitches are quite pricey... i'll live with this one) walt |

mine runs out before the empty mark. usually in the red zone.

Re: fuel tank question on '93 YJ
Not sure if it is possible for the face of the fuel gauge to rotate, maybe
yours has shifted and that is where the 1/4 to the plus side is coming from. My 93 YJ goes below Empty - I drove around with a 1 gallon gas can to see how low it would go,,, never actually ran out but needle went below E and I took almost 18 gals. to fill up. As a habit I always like to fill up at the 1/4 mark but it is good to know that I could run all the way down to E if required (or about 300 miles on trip odometer).
