Fuel Filter in 2000 XJ 4.0L HO

Good Morning Group!

How is the fuel filter changed in a 2000 XJ with an automatic trans & 4.0L
HO? Thanks, as always, for your insights.

Re: Fuel Filter in 2000 XJ 4.0L HO

It can't be replaced without dropping the tank?

Re: Fuel Filter in 2000 XJ 4.0L HO

That is likely one of Chrysler's 'improvements'.

The older Cherokees had a filter on the inside frame rail just in front
of the tank on the drivers side.

The older Cherokee also has the pump accessible from the front of the
tank so you didn't need to drop it to change it.

I have no idea what the new ones have in either case.
