Front End
As you can tell I have a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I absolutly love it.
But as you can also tell I am very ---- about having my car just about perfect, so any noises or abnormal things I always fix. To get on with the issue When ever I hit a bump it makes a klunk noise, its been doing it for ever, and now I am just getting around to getting it fixed becaue I really don't like to hear the sound. Is it just my shocks needing replaced?? or is it something else?? Anyone else having this type of prblem... Please give me advice, as I would greatly appreceiate it! Thank you all for all of your help with all my stuff! |
Re: Front End
Lay underneath the front and watch every joint and fastener while someone
turns the wheel back and forth. Jack up each wheel and with a block of wood and a prybar lift each wheel looking and listening for any slop, wear, or noise. Carefully examine your tire tread for uneven wear. They should be even from shoulder to shoulder if the wheel is rolling in the correct orientation. Also some tire tread designs are noisier and rougher than others. Generally speaking... the more 'aggressive' the tires the louder and rougher the ride.. Re: Front End
I would be looking for a worn out bushing. It isn't likely a shock can
clunk 'for ever' and not snap off something. They usually only clunk for a short while... There are a lot of bushings up there, but the antisway bar ends are where I would start.
