This fell off...What is it and do I need it back on?

Looks like the heat shield over the catalytic converter. You should put it
back on or you might melt your carpeting. "Sam" <sam@sam.com> wrote in message news:keq9c3lf753jcgikq2pikheha7tks6snjc@4ax.com... > http://www.coyoterock.net/pix/jeep.jpg > > 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport > > Thanks, > > Sam > |

Re: This fell off...What is it and do I need it back on?
Looks like a heat shield to me. I'd find its home and put it back on. They
seldom put on parts that are clearly not needed, but they have b een known to put stuff on that you can get by for a few days without. I'd place this part in the latter category. Get under the jeep and see if there are corresponding hold-downs just above the cat. If there is then you will need to secure that shield back on. Since the holes will be too large you will need to take one of the bolts out and take the washer down to a hardware store. Get a fender washer or similar that has the same hole but about another 1/2" in width. You might be able to fabricate a few out of a tin can if your handy that way. > "Sam" <sam@sam.com> wrote in message > news:keq9c3lf753jcgikq2pikheha7tks6snjc@4ax.com... >> http://www.coyoterock.net/pix/jeep.jpg >> >> 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport >> >> Thanks, >> >> Sam |
