Extended travel shocks 101:
 

Who is the teacher today?


I did a SOA, and am ready to get extended travel shocks so that I can use all
the articulation I am expecting. But I never really looked into shocks, I like
the Idea of the Ranch 9000, but doubt there worth paying for. And I want to
avoid a kidney bruiser, I need my wife to like the ride (you all know what I
mean).

No highway, but not as much off road as I wish, But go for real when I go.


Any thoughts? What new on the market? Or worth looking into?

I want it done right, but money doses not grow on trees, as of yet.

Also looking for what ever extend break lines info you have, but I think I got
that covered. However I have not ordered yet, so feel free to chime in.

Not that this answers any of your questions but I saw a CJ today on the 605
with a SOA lift "WITH" lift blocks (2" or 3") so the springs were on top of
the lift blocks which were sitting on the axle.... He was all muddy so
looks like he was having fun with it.

Did you relocate the lower shock mounts when you did the SOA? You should
have welded new ones on the axle tube.
Do you have the taller upper shock towers?
If not do this:

I then bought the longest shock Rancho made for the front:
