Even MORE questions..

89 XJ 2" Skyjacker AAL lift continues..

OK, All four rear shock bolts came out w/o issue! SCORE! Got the passenger
side leaf spring off. The AAL is almost as long as the main leaf, so I
installed it under the main leaf with the three smaller stock leaves below
it.

Questions are..

The Third leaf in the pack (formerly the 2nd longest leaf) does not touch
the main leaf at the front spring eye bushing. There is about 1/4 inch of
clearance. I tried flipping the leaf around but then the leaf didn't sit
properly at all and still line up in the tie bolt hole. All the longer
portions of the leaves are toward the front spring bushing.

Three clamps wrapped around the stock leaf pack when I removed it. I had to
remove all thee clamps to put the ALL in. I had to basically completely
dissassemble the leaf pack. All the leaves are now lined up and the tie bolt
is in, at 27 ftlbs (I used two C-clamps to compress the leaves while
tightening the tie bolt). How do get the clamps back on? I could just wrap
them back around and bend the metal to fit, but one small "lock" tab on the
clamp all ready broke. I have them wrapped around the leaves for now, but
I'm not sure that is exactly safe. Where can I get new clamps?

Thanks..

Carl
