Does me 97 Jeep TJ have ABS?
I have a 97 Wrangler Sahara 4.0 with a d35c, 3.55 gears, and an open
differential in the rear. How can i tell if i have ABS? Ive never felt it kick in ever in the winter, so im guessing i dont have it. Other than feeling it while im driving, is there another way to see if i have it? Plus im looking at the EZ locker so i may have to know if i have abs or not. |
Re: Does me 97 Jeep TJ have ABS?
You have the D35 so it's possible. Easy way to check is looking at the
lines... Follow where the hard brake line comes off the body and joins with the flex line. ABS will have a wire going to the sending unit along side the brake line. Non-abs will only have the brake line. -Brian "Derek Proctor" <dirk44@aol.com> wrote in message news:3ade3bcf.0407061207.28f2c646@posting.google.c om... : I have a 97 Wrangler Sahara 4.0 with a d35c, 3.55 gears, and an open : differential in the rear. Re: Does me 97 Jeep TJ have ABS?
There is a tray positioned below the master cylinder and brake
booster, in essentially the same location as the battery, but on the driver's side of the engine bay. If you see stuff sitting on this tray, with lines going to it from the master cylinder, then you have ABS. (This shelf, by the way, is referred to as the "ABS Shelf".) If this shelf is empty, then you don't have ABS. If you look in this picture: http://www.jeepshots.com/tech/manifolds2.jpg You can see the ABS Shelf. It is the metal tray this person has attached all the orange hoses and white guages to. And before you ask, No, these hoses and gauges aren't found in a stock jeep; this person did as many (including myself) have done; he used his empty ABS shelf (since he doesn't have ABS on his TJ) to mount his on-board-air manifolds, gauges, etc. I only included this picture to help you see where the abs shelf is located; so you can just ignore the crap mounted to it in this pic. /Bob dirk44@aol.com (Derek Proctor) wrote in message news:<3ade3bcf.0407061207.28f2c646@posting.google. com>... > I have a 97 Wrangler Sahara 4.0 with a d35c, 3.55 gears, and an open > differential in the rear.
