Do you daily drive 33s/lifted TJ?
 

Was just wondering how many folks drive their lifted TJs with at least 33 inch
tires and four inches of lift on a daily basis? Is it tolerable, do you still
drive 75 on the expressway, etc?

I have a tera-flex 3 inch with 33's, lets just say I still have my mustang
for a reason. everyday commute would be a pain after a while. I generally
keep it at 65... but that's just my view....

Yes you can drive daily.. it helps if you have 373 gears on high way rather
than 307's

I've daily driven my '02 TJ with 4" of lift, 33" tires and 3.73 gears for
almost two years. No complaints, other than it would be nice to be able to
use fifth gear routinely. I don't expect it to behave like a BMW on the
highway, so I find it quite driveable. I've even taken it on several hundred
mile business trips. It makes for a longer travel time when I do so, but not
because the vehicle isn't capable. It's just that those darn backroads are
so attractive, I can't stop myself from pulling off the freeway and taking
the _long_ way!

Yup.

97 TJ w/4" Teraflex/Procomp lift and 33x12.50r15 BFG AT KO's. (Had
same-size Procomp MTs on there the last year and a half; the BFGs are
quieter and have a noticeably smoother ride quality, especially at
lower speeds.)

It's my only vehicle and does fine for me. Sure, a little bumpier, and
it can't be driven like a 'vette, but perfectly enjoyable. Not to
mention the envy of all those dulldrum car owners during the summer
when I get to take my doors off and put the top down. ;-)

I have the 3.55:1 diff gearing, so it's closer to the performance of
the newer TJs with the 3.73 gearing ratio, and ok for the highway. I
do get to use 5th gear on occasion. And it does fine at 70-75 MPH (I
choose to usually go slower than that, though, to save wear on my
expensive tires).

I will say, though, that before I put in the SYE kit and the CV rear
driveshaft, its manners weren't quite as nice (due to the vibrations
in the driveline u-joints).

If this is the only reason you may be leaning away from lifting your
ride, I say to heck with it, go ahead and lift it--you won't be sorry.

In 4th at 70 mph, I am turning around 2300 rpm and with the spedo buried
she is turning 2700 rpm.

It doesn't really bother me, 5th is just one less shift I have to worry
about.

I trail run mostly off road and very seldom have a need for 1st low, so
I am fine going slow.

I don't have a TJ, But I do have a CJ-7 and I have driven it to and from
work going on Four years now I think. And it is a little stiffer ride then
before the lift,but I would do it again if need be. It has a Tuff Country
Standard 4" lift so it's a little ruffer ride then the easy ride lift's I'm
sure. I've driven it all over, but I wouldn't drive it all over the country.
I just bought a 1995" Jeep Cherokee Country with a Super Lift 3" kit in it
and I would drive it all over the country. Coil's in front and Leaf spring's
in the rear and your TJ having Coil's all the way around I can only think
that the ride would be better.
