DST was first enacted by a national government for WWI. This poster shows
how it was interpreted in the U.S.

At the time, many people in this country still grew their own food, and
contributed to the war effort in that way. Now, it gives us more time to
demonstrate against truly idiotic national policies in the early evening,
and still have time for a couple hours' debate about it all at the local
Starbucks.
