daydreaming: 3.8 Buick Turbo GN swap anyone ever done it?
Vital stats from some later model Grand Nationals: 200+ HP at around
4000 RPM... nearing 300 foot pounds at 1800... Great sleeper musclecar engine, maybe even better Jeep engine... enough HP to pass people and cut through the aerodynamic disadvantage... better low end torque by far than the 4.2... a turbo and nice aftermarket and OEM parts options (Including an intercooler for the last year of the GN)... In My Humble Opinion, four wheel drives and Turbos don't go
together, even tricked out, they just take too long to spool up. Talk to Advance Adapters. One of their catalogs mentioned a solution to put
a 3.8 into a Cherokee, but they were probably thinking of the naturally aspirated version at the time. Don't expect a kit, or a series of detailed instructions. Why not a Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix engine instead? I think you could get those supercharged, thereby avoiding some of Bill's objections.
