CY7 Clutch Linkage
Vehicle is an '83 CJ7, 258/T5.
I'm getting tired of replacing the clutch linkage parts (mostly the bellcrack, upper and lower rods) every 4 to 5 years. A Google search found a company named tellico4x4 that claims to sell a heim joint clutch linkage assemble for CJ's that should completely eliminate the joint wear in the OEM linkage. Does anybody have any experience (good or bad) with either this company or their products ? |

Did you notice there's a zerk fitting on that bell crank? I don't
know if you could design the joints between the engine and frame to slide back and forth as they have to, using heim joints. I think you'll be happiest with a complete repair, new ball joints and their brass halves, that you probably did know were in there, as they wear in two and fall out. Or, you might think about converting to hydraulic, that works for me: http://www.----------.com/slave.jpg But, you'll loose the helper spring. After buying about $1000 worth of stuff from them, they're now at the bottom of my list of places to buy from. I don't care if it costs more - the only time I'll buy from them now is if I can't find it anywhere else. This over a $15 turn signal switch that wouldn't work in the "lane change" position. I keep it in my Jeep as a reminder not to buy from them.
