Cruise control

Hi, I have a 1988 mod Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L
I have no manual at all, I guess that my cruise control does not work at
all, but it would still be nice if someone could send me a description from
the book of how it should be set. (the control is on the left side together
with the windows washer stick )
Not even 100% sure it is a cruise control, but can't figure out what else
it could be.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong ?

Also when should the power button be used (the button beside the rear
windows washer button)

Thanks for all help.

Re: Cruise control

If you have cruise, the signal and wiper switch will have a longer end
on it clearly marked cruise with a switch on it for off-on-r/a.

To set it, get up to speed, turn the switch to on and push in on the end
button then let off the gas. The r/a is resume or accelerate and is
used to speed up a little or to go back to the last speed the cruise was
set at before you had to slow down or touched the brakes to shut off the
cruise.

The power and comfort switch changes the way the tranny shifts. Use
power and under hard acceleration, the tranny will shift at a higher
rpm. It also will downshift faster.

Re: Cruise control

Thanks Mike,

I can't see any print, but there is a left arrow, mid position and a right
arrow.

Is left pos.off, mid position On, and right pos. r/a ?

Should I set it in mid.position and then push in the end button ?

Should I push the r/a once to increase the speed with a few km?

Thanks again, reg. Geir

Geir,

If your '88 is like my '87 Laredo, then the turn signal stalk will have a
chrome "slider" on it for activating the cruise control functions. What you
described above is simply the markings on the non-cruise-control turn signal
stalk.
