Actually, one of my first memories of TV was getting up too early on
Saturday morning and seeing crash tests on TV before the cartoons came
on. That was back in the late '60 or very early '70's.

So, they've been doing them for a while.

Actually, looking at the link Joe posted, a 1984 CJ7 got 4 stars for
both front and side impacts. Who'da thunk it?
