Crappy gas mileage
Man, with the price of gas today I just realized I get better gas mileage
driving my newer 8 cylinder full size Chevy pick-up than I'm getting on my '86 Jeep. Damn. 4.2 liter Mopar MPI fuel injected, header and 4.56 gears pushing 35" MT/R tires I'm getting about 10mpg. Pain, much pain. Jim -- '86 CJ-7 D30 D44 D300 4:1 T-5 SOA ARB 4.56 Mopar MPI Fresno, CA USA http://www.redneck4x4.com |

They can drift off without throwing codes and then the engine runs rich and milage goes to pot. The other culprit is leak-down on the injectors. Measure the fuel rail pressure, it should stay steady for more than 20min, if it leaks down fast it could be the pressure regulator, check valve, or leaky injector. Both a leaking check valve and pressure regulator will cause poor performance and real lousy starts with lots of cranking. A dripping injector just makes that cyl run rich and sucks gas. -- DougW |
