CJ Power Steering is leaking!!!

Where the steering shaft connects to the stearing box is leaking,..maybe a
seal around there??? It's leaking pretty bad. How hard are these to remove
and replace O rings or whatever seals are there? The boot that covers the
ujoint is also torn so I might as well get in there and do what I can.
Oh,...and who might sell this stuff?
Thanks!

Re: CJ Power Steering is leaking!!!

I had one that leaked at the pitman arm, so I bought the rebuild kit from
Advanced Auto (I think it was about $30). When I opened it up and looked at
the hundreds of O-rings, washers and seals, I took it back. A couple of
days later I bought a rebuilt box (about $180) and turned the old one in for
the core charge. IMHO, it was worth the $150 difference.

Re: CJ Power Steering is leaking!!!

Plus you get a new worm gear with the rebuilt box. You'd be supprised
on how much play it will take out of the steering.

I bought the rebuild kit a few years ago at Napa, and it still sits on my
work bench waiting. Some gorilla tightened the flare fittings so tight that
I can't get them loosened without removing the grill.
