CJ height help?
I have an 81 CJ 7, hard top, PO put in a Black Diamond 3 1/2" lift, but
jeep sits quite lo in back, probably 2 - 3" lower in back then front, I remember when I ordered the BDS lift for my daughters YJ they asked if it was a hard top, if so then I am to order the same springs for back as front, being that they give more lift. So I assume that was so with this too and PO didn't get the heavier back springs to compensate for hard top. Anyway, no matter what the reason, is there a way to correct this with either adding a leaf or a body lift on back only, what does anyone recommend? Greg |
Re: CJ height help?
You can correct it a couple different ways... add-a-leaf (or different
springs) and shackles. Make sure the front shackles are stock length first. Extending the rear shackles 2-3" wont' hurt you and is probably the cheapest and easiest. A body lift won't help. -- JimG 80' CJ-7 258 CID 35" BFG MT on 15x10 Centerlines D44 Rear, Dana 30 Front. Re: CJ height help?
I'm guessing the cheapest way to fix it is to replace only the rear
shackles. I would not mess with installing half a body lift. That would really look funny. Check with Four Wheel Drive Hardware www.4wd.com for the shackles. They should be able to help you out. Ok shackles it is, question now, greasable or not? Double the price for
greasable. "Casey Teague" <abnsigo@bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:bl1vb.6368$DX3.5926@bignews5.bellsouth.net... > I'm guessing the cheapest way to fix it is to replace only the rear > shackles.
