You don't keep track of door openings? I have a separate log book for
that...

"Blown Speakers" are not uncommon in the Grand Cherokees but occur almost
exclusively in vehicles driven by younger people who play "bass heavy"
.......ahhhhh.... "music".... at very high volumes that overload the factory
speakers.

00 XJ with the Infinity sound system speaker rattle - Just replaced
driver's side door speaker with an inexpensive (5.25" Kicker DS525
$69/pair) after determining that is wasn't the wiring and it wasn't the
tweeter. Sounds ok. I now need to replace the passenger side and in the
XJ and one in my wife's ZJ same system same problem. Anybody else
having problems with these speakers? Is there a good source for quality
after market? I think the stealership wanted a buck and half for one.

Re: Blown Speaker 99XJ

Check out Crutchfield. They're going to be a little more expensive
than, say, Circuit City or Best Buy, but their customer service more
than makes up for it.
Don't use factory replacements, just find a good speaker of the same
size and pop it in the hole.

FWIW, my '95 ZJ has the infinity sound system, and it is a piece of
crap. Almost every speaker rattles even below reasonable volumes =
broken cones all about. Replacing the head unit and thereby eliminating
the factory EQ helped (the unit had failed), but it'll be getting all
new speakers, with good solid cones.
