Does a WWII Willys require a 6V or 12V battery?

It would be six volts, the twenty four volts didn't come along
until 1950: http://www.jeepdr.com/diagnose/chart.html Because of the
difficulty of finding replacement parts, nearly everything's been
converted to your twelve volt system, as twaldron eluded.
