Bah.
Well, the rubber boot for the back CCV connector fell apart. :(
A bit of self vulcanizing rubber tape will keep it sealed till I can get down to the dealer and pick up a new one. (too bad NAPA doesn't sell them) Could make one out of hose and clamps.... Last resort, it needs fresh rubber anyway. Been reading, guess they aren't too expensive. Gonna take a tube of KY just in case. :O On the bright side I did see a page on how they go it. You turn the plastic L so it points down the block then pull out. Otherwise I might have been fishing plastic bits out of the engine. -- DougW |
Re: Bah.
You don't say what year and model. NAPA _does_ sell them (at least, the ones that fit the late 80s-early 90s range of 4.0l), it is just that current Balkamp catalogue doesn't have them in the index and you have to leaf through to find the correct picture and numbers. Or, from my post in Apr, `04 (fits 1989 Cherokee 4.0): <URL:http://www.google.com/groups?selm=Pine.NEB.4.58.0404171100130.7662%40pan ix1.panix.com> [quote]---------------------- They _are_ _not_ _indexed_ in the current Balkamp catalogue, but for those who will eventually need to replace these parts here's the Balkamp part numbers 715-1365 (rear) 715-1366 (left) 715-1367 (right). Total cost locally for all three parts was US$41. [unquote]-------------------- Or, you can use the following URL provided by Mike Romain earlier this year and go for the Mopar stock numbers: 3. Cherokee America @Off-Road.com <URL:http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/xjtech/engine/40ltr/blowby.htm> [quote]-------------------- * Mopar Part # 4762592 - $17.50 This only includes the rear grommet and the tube going to the intake manifold. * Mopar Part # 53004838 - $33.55 This is the left half of the vaccum hose harness assembly which includes the front breather hose. * Mopar Part # 53004868 - $24.00 This is the right half of the vaccum hose harness assembly which hooks up to the air cleaner. Lee Ayrton did pass the time by typing:
> You don't say what year and model. Yep. I already called the dealer and found they had it. :) Just venting a bit. 5$ for a "ccv harness". And now I have some spare hardline and connectors. Honesty I expected them to charge me an arm and a leg, but the price was reasonable. They must go through a lot. Even the parts guy knew exactly what was needed. (he's a jeeper too) Only thing left is to replace the plastic L and grommet with a new one, but the engine will have to cool down a bit. Just got back from a vintage (brass front Ford) car swap. Lots of old stuff and even a 2.5 ton rockwell with the spicer U joints.
