AX-5 transmission

Hi,

I need to remove a spacer gear on an AX-5 transmission that is located
on the counter shaft next to the fifth gear. It looks to be the final
thing I need to remove to disassemble the gearbox with the intentions
of doing a full sync ring job.

This spacer appears to be put on a spline and is possibly cast too.
There is no room to get a regular bearing puller in there. Has anyone
done a transmission repair like this is my most basic question. Thanks!

Re: AX-5 transmission

I feel a bit upset about people tagging you. A person tries to help out
and they find everything wrong you. Been there.

I have visited your web page and just find you are a good family man.
If you want to get into facts, I could not get that manual for that
AX-5. The dealer would not even let me look at it. The nearest I could
come was from EBay with the Auzzies. That shipping would have cost a
human liver.

I am presently trying to get the body mounts off that old '93 YJ rig.
The mainframe is gone and I want to stick in a brace. I am
contemplating, I should jack the body for a counter force? The AX-5
sits at my feet. This looks busy. The machine shop up the road were
stunned and put the main shaft in a vise to get at the 5th spacer. I
guess I was not paying attention because they might have harmed it.

Whatever Bill.. fools are like ants. Too many, too fast.

P.S. I am still an electrical engineer. If I can help out, just email
me.
