Attaching Mopar Accessories
I am a first time TJ owner and ordered two front tow hooks and a hitch
from the dealer. I found out after the fact that they charge $79 bucks an hour to install. He said it would take three hours to do this... does that sound right? If not, about how long should it take? Is this something a newby could do? The tow hooks seem like they should take 10 minutes max... does it take over two hours to install and wire a hitch??? The labor is going to cost more than the parts! Earle Horton, your thoughts? |
Re: Attaching Mopar Accessories
No more than 1.5 hours even if the hitch needs extra holes. The Dealers go
by a flat rate manual for their repairs. I failed to add that I had them include some sidesteps in the purchase of the TJ and that three hours includes the installation of them, but they are meant to be removed for offroading, so I don't think they should be more than a few bolts to tighten. I am hoping that this will reduce the time by at least an hour or so... I shouldn't be so cheap! |

Re: Attaching Mopar Accessories
I pay 150 for the hitch installed by a local 4x4 shop here in houston.. the
tow hooks are a 2 minute job! You need a torx T-55 goto U-haul if there is one around you...they charge 175 installed for a hitch with wiring the lights (here in houston anyways) hope this helps Jarod Sprauer www.sprauermotorsports.com -- "JeepXJ" <xj2001jeep@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1153365961.946559.189910@i42g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... >I am a first time TJ owner and ordered two front tow hooks and a hitch > from the dealer.
