ARB stuck
87 CJ, ARB locker, rear is stuck locked. Pressure is off, I even applied a
vacuum to try to unlock it. Anyone experienced this? The compressor is going too, blew a 20A fuse. I may just yank the whole system out. Thankfully, it's not mine, I have 2 Powr-Loks in my Jeepster. Trouble free. -- Paul Calman, Hathaway Pines, California |
Re: ARB stuck
From what I know about ARBs, besides the plastic lines failing the most
common problem is diaphragm failure. However, I think in that case it won't engage, rather than sticking. Only way to tell is to pull the carrier and disassemble. I have an ARB in the front D44 on my YJ, it's used infrequently so I'm hoping it won;t fail any too soon. The Detroit in the rear is a handful on the street, but superb on the trails. > The compressor is going too, blew a 20A fuse. > I may just yank the whole system out. > Thankfully, it's not mine, I have 2 Powr-Loks in my Jeepster. Re: ARB stuck
"The compressor is going too" is suspicious to say the least. I suspect
that it is blowing nasty stuff into the air lines. Re: ARB stuck
I just have to wait until the owner can be without wheels for a few (days,
weeks?) while I pull it down and get parts. Last year I soldered the copper tube in his front diff to the cap. Thanks guys. |
