Squirt some fresh fuel into the carb float bowl until it's full, then try &
start it. If it runs, then quits, the fuel supply system is faulty. Squirt some fresh fuel into the carb float bowl until it's full, then try &
start it. If it runs, then quits, the fuel supply system is faulty. Just a 1/8 cup down the carb throat will tell the same. Easier too.

It was the choke. Looks like a twice a year "fix" for me. The "thingy"
that closes the choke (then opens it when the engine warms) keeps slipping. It's only held on with a tension ring. I tightened the ring by bending it. Hopefully it will hold a long time.
