The only 'myth' I saw was what he sprayed out of his mouth when
contact was made! Ever get up against one of those real farm jobs? One controller runs as much a 5 miles of wire and we had to keep cleaning the fence rows since there was enough energy in that puppy to light a good fire if the weeds grew up and contacted the wire. You don't need a light bulb to tell if it's on - you can hear the hum as it charges, all the way out to the end of the line. Ah, the good old days. We had one clown who used to run around killing (gas) tractor engines by shorting out all the plugs with his fingers - until the day he tried it on an old Oliver with it's huge magneto driven igniton. That was the end of that trick! Way back, when Cushman motor scooter were common, there was a model
that had the plug vertical in the top of the head. I've seen more than one guy working on the carb with the seat off try to hold it back and wind up sitting right square on that plug. Talk about the goose from hell!
