'98 XJ radiator replacement... looking for BTDT's...

Greetings all,

A real pisser on my XJ popped up over the weekend. The plastic hose
attachment on the radiator fill (hose heads to over-flow bottle) has
corroded to the point that the hose will no longer stay on and it now
leaks coolant. Short of replacing the radiator I'm not sure how to fix
the plastic... I want to replace the radiator anyway but I haven't done
that.

The XJ is a '98 with a automatic trans and trans cooler. Everything
looks fairly simple to get at except from what I've read about the trans
cooler line.. any tricks or special attention needs to be given to that?
I saw the Cherokee America page where the guy upgraded from a closed to
a open system and I am going to use a GDI 3 Core radiator myself...

Any clues on what to do or not do would be great, thanks!

Depending on if the radiator tanks are epoxied or crimped to the core, you
can have a good radiator shop replace the tank that has the hose nipple on
it. The epoxied ones are throw-aways. I wouldn't recommend this if you are
planning on replacing the radiator anyway, but it is an option.

That is who I am going with, GDI 3 core that's all medal. Actually I'm
just looking for tips on the swap... anything special I need to look out
for or anything tricky. My Jeep is an auto so I'm a little worried
about the swap... TIA.
