98 wrangler windshield hinge

I have a 98 warangler and would like to replace the factory
hinges(rust).
Is there anything tricky about swapping the out? Like a thread plate
inside the windshield frame, or are thr holes threaded?

Thanks,
J

Reading the posts of owners that have tried to do this without
success, I advise against it, or you'll be writing of how your cheap
Torx® socket broke and you had to drill them out. They use nuts, rather
than a plates like used in adjustable door hinges. Sand and repaint,
then use lots of messy oil.

Re: 98 wrangler windshield hinge

I am not sure about the TJ hinges, which are different, but by the third
time I had swapped or adjusted my YJ windshield hinges to finally get them
right I had gotten pretty good at it, and sworn off buying stainless steel
accessories for life. I also would recommend sanding and coating with OEM
spray touch up paint. Or leave them alone. How long will it take for TJ
windshield hinges to rust all the way through?

Re: 98 wrangler windshield hinge

Hi Earle,
Thanks, I didn't know they were adjustable.
How long before the hinges rust through? Depends on whether they
are replacement stainless steel by Steel Horse. ;-)
