'98 Jeep Relay Question

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD L6

The power windows stop working whenever the interior (cabin)
temperture gets (uncomfortably) warm. As soon as the interior cools
down, the power windows start to work again. This leads me to beleive
that the power window relay has out lived its usefull life and the
contacts are no longer within tolerance (the jeep has about 155k miles
on it).

Can anyone confirm their thoughts on this and advise which relay it
is (and where it is located)? I've searched everywhere and no part
store indicates a power
window relay. The closest I come is a multi purpose relay from Rock
Auto - is this the one?

Any help is appreaicted.

Thanks,
Phil

Re: '98 Jeep Relay Question

I owned a Honda Accord once that had a problem kinda like this one. My
trouble was a cold solder joint inside the window controller.

I found the controller living inside the driver door, and pryed it open with
a small screwdriver to expose the control board inside. There was a 6- or
7-pin connector that had nearly all of the solder connections poorly made.
There were other joints that reaquired attention as well. After hitting all
of the joints with my soldering iron, the controller worked properly for
another 10 years or so.

Re: '98 Jeep Relay Question

You are going at this backwards. You should get a shop manual and
properly dianose it rather than trying to find a part that doesn't
exist.
