97 JGC keyless remote programming

Yesterday we became a 2 Jeep family!! Added a 97 Grand Cherokee Lerado to the
corral. My problem is this. The dealer only had 1 remote for the keyless
entry, he did however give me 2 additional remotes to be programmed, which due
to time constraints we could not do at that time. Just wondering if I can save
a few bucks and do it myself.

Re: 97 JGC keyless remote programming

the '96 factory service manual states that the remotes must be programmed at
the dealer, using a computer they have. been there, done that ;) I figure
'97 will be the same.

up to '95, they were able to be user-programmed, but there were major
electrical changes in '96.
