'95 JGC Heat/Cool Controls
1995 JGC with the electronic heater/cooling controls (no cables/vacuum) will
not change the position of air output when selected. Air is coming from the floor vent and will not change no matter the selection. The manual I have (aftermarket) does not show the electronic controls or even where the valve is located.... Any one got a link or help with where the selector valve is or some troubleshooting so I can at least get the defroster working? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks! T. |
Re: '95 JGC Heat/Cool Controls
factory service manual is the only place you can get correct info
dc has a website that will charge you 20 bucs a day for the right to do so TM wrote: > 1995 JGC with the electronic heater/cooling controls (no cables/vacuum) will > not change the position of air output when selected. Re: '95 JGC Heat/Cool Controls
Dunno what it costs now for the 95 ZJ FSM, as I've had mine for a few
years and it was under $100. If they still have it at tech authority, get the Body Diagnostic Procedures manual as well. The FSM will pay for itself. Heck you could buy a dozen for what one peek under that auto climate will run you at a dealer. Starting left to right on the heater, first is the blower, then the AC evap, then the heater core, then the heat/defrost door, then the panel/defrost door. I'd guess your heat/defrost may not be moving. Just behind the knobs is the ATC controller...everything else is controlled by actuators driven by that thing. The auto control panel can be used to dump fault codes for the auto system and can also be used to drive any of the outputs including moving the doors between extremes. There are pages of how to do this in chapter 24 of the FSM. First try the simple stuff, dump any faults. To read and write to the sensors, you really need the FSM. Push the A/C and RECIRC buttons [same time] and hold them down. Rotate the temp control clockwise one click. The display should light up everything, pretty much a lamp check of the display. Let go of the A/C and RECIRC and the left side of the display should go to 00. After getting the 00 on the left, push either the A/C or RECIRC. You should see the little stickman and the display will change to indicate stored faults...range from 00 to 64, where 00 means no stored faults. If you see 25 or 29, head for a junk yard and get a new ATC module and start all over. Those two are bad ATC. You can clear faults by pushing either A/C or RECIRC and hold for about 3 seconds, you should see 2 horizontal bars in the display when old faults have been cleared. If you get a fault, repost, someone may have a quick fix. Luckily I havent had to do this yet so wouldnt know just how big a pain in the back it is to crawl under there. You can also move the doors around, but if you arent careful, it WILL try to move to the position you tell it to. philthy proclaimed: > factory service manual is the only place you can get correct info > dc has a website that will charge you 20 bucs a day for the right to do so > > TM wrote: > >> 1995 JGC with the electronic heater/cooling controls (no cables/vacuum) will >> not change the position of air output when selected. Re: '95 JGC Heat/Cool Controls
Thanks for the info and yeah a FSM would be nice...just can't afford it or
the parts to fix this one (going thru the "Big D". I'll tear into this thing later this week...it will probably be a "manual" ATC when I'm done. I'll also try to follow up with a synopsis... Thanks Again! T |
