93 ZJ no bounce in suspension Ideas?

Wifey came home the other night compaining that her ZJ was acting like
it was being driven in a pot holed field, bouncing her all over the
place.

I took the beast out for a drive ( ahhh the jeep that is..) and with
just going about 1km and driving over 16 manhole covers I knew what she
ment.

I tried bouncing the rear bumper up and down and there is abosolutely
no bounce and very little bounce on the front. A look under showed
nothing obvious.
Any ideas?? shocks or spring? if shocks any recomendations? the ZJ
spends 99.9% of it time driving on paved roads and .01% of its time
(when I get to drive due to it being broken) driving on dirt/gravel
roads, snow banks, curbs etc. :)

TIA
Snow...
93 ZJ 4.0.

On my old VW Sirrocco I remember on cold days
the gas shocks would freeze solid.

If you have the type of shock where the shaft is shielded (as opposed
to rubber boots), make sure that somebody hasn't installed them upside
down, therefore acting as a reservoir for water to collect and
freeze.....I've seen it more than once around the onset of winter...
