93 Cherokee Country won't start. Code 12. Any idea?
Doesn't even crank. Jump start won't work. Voltage meter on the
dashboard displays normal voltage (12+). Hasn't happened before. Is it because of bad starter? |
Re: 93 Cherokee Country won't start. Code 12. Any idea?
Code 12 could mean the battery was recently disconnected:
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/fault/code12.html So, first check and clean all your connections. Then determine if you can hear the starter solenoid click making it's connect, if not that could be your problem. A Real batter tester would read at least thirteen volts, and an alternator charging at least thirteen and a half volts. More likely the voltage isnt getting to the starter solenoid. Tried the old Sears screwdriver trick across the solenoid? |

No crank usually indicates a dead starter solinoid (think big ass relay) But it can indicate a bad neutral safety switch, try starting in N. Also in line is the starter relay, swap with the AC or Fog relay I only have the 93ZJ book, the electrics should be similar. -- DougW |
