Re: 91 XJ clutch slave

I'm sure some new ones will just pop up as needed <g>.

Advance warning: the top two
belhousing bolts are reverse torx - takes either a torx socket or the
appropriate size 12-pt socket - either 10 or 12mm but memory fails me -
and one helluva long extension. Shop early or be ready for a trip to the
tool shop.

Support the rear of the engine and lower the tranny as far as
you can to reach them. I also needed a floor jack with more lift so I
bought one at Harbor Freight that had a tranny platform on it - made the
install just so much more fun...

Re: 91 XJ clutch slave

I thought it was easier with twenty thousand in tools to just cut a
hole through the floor boards for the bolt just above the starter.

Re: 91 XJ clutch slave

I'm not sure if that'seasier or not - by the time you get the carpet out
of the way and figure just where to cut the hole, then figure how
far to move to cut the next hole after you miss... Only time I ever HAD
to cut the firewall was a '56 Ford with the big V8 - no other way to reach
the right rear exhaust manifold bolt that I could see.

I always wonder why the fifties Ford heater box and blow came out
with just two thumb over center clamps:
