89 JEEP COMMANCHE
WHEN MOTOR IS RUNNING ITS BURNING GREY SMOKE FROM TAIL PIPE
|
Re: 89 JEEP COMMANCHE
Black or Grey Smoke results from incomplete fuel combustion caused by a
clogged air filter; carburetor, choke, fuel injection or emission system malfunction; ignition timing off; or a blocked manifold. A vehicle with a cold engine may also emit black or gray smoke, but not after the vehicle is warmed up. Re: 89 JEEP COMMANCHE
This illustrates one of the problems making any sort of diagnosis over
the phone, email, or a newsgroup. His "grey" could be my "black", "blue", "white", or "grey". Other things to look for would be smoke coming out of the oil fill cap when removed, bubbles in the radiator (Do not remove the cap when hot!), unusual smells, or unusually rapid loss or consumption of fuel, oil, or coolant. What else is different about this engine? Earle |
