I wonder if the '88 shipped to Holland had the enlarged engine

Hey maybe it took two years to get there and the 1986 became a 1988 there.

There was not a choice between a 2.8 and a 4.0. The 4.0 replaced the 2.8.

You are correct. Last year for the 2.8L was 1986. The 4.0 was introduced in
1987.
