83 cj7

I have a 83 cj7 with the 258 in it. No power steering with a 4 speed
but I love it anyway. Anyway I have a oil problem but I can't seem to
find a post that helps. I have a aftermarket stainless dash like most
but the problem is around the cutout for the radio I have oil
accumulating on the ledge there (I have no radio installed either). I
can't figure out where it is comming from. It is mainly on that ledge
and there is not significant deposits on the backs of the guages and
such. I don't have any oil under the vehicle when its parked for a few
days and my oil pressure seems fine. I have electric guages not
mechanical. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Wow, sounds really mysterious. I'd ------ out some paper towels
behind the dash and go for a drive, see if I could collect some
"evidence" to pin down where it's coming from.

Are you sure you don't have a mechanical oil pressure gauge? They are
pretty common on CJ's. Mine is. If so, I would suspect the fitting is
just loose.

If not, maybe it used to have one and the oil tube is still stuck up
under the dash slowly dripping away?

Yep its mechanical and I am stupid. I cant believe I missed that. I
saw some wiring and assumed way too much. Finally someone with some
idea of what was falling out of his mouth showed me that it was
machanical. Sorry, I am new to this. Thanks a lot though for trying
to help me. Might not be the last dumb question I ask here, but now I
will never confuse the two types of gauges again.
