79-CJ-7 vent cable
Does anyone know where I can find part # 5463658 ? It's the cable that operates
the vent. It connects down by the passengers right foot. I can find the three cables that operate the air/temp/defrost, part #'s 55,56,57, but I need #58. This is all Mr. Romains fault. He suggested upgrading to a bigger blower motor and I forgot to unhook that cable before removing the whole assembly. LOL What a difference! My Jeep now has a nickname.... Hurricane CJ :-) Thanks for any help! Steve 79 CJ-7 |

Well... You never asked how to take the sucker apart.. ;-)
Do you just need the core or the whole cable? A new core can be made from a piece of manual choke cable or a throttle cable for a lawnmower. The ends can be made by just wrapping the cable around a bolt to shape it. That end cable does just operate the one flap, so if you left the top connected for fresh air/off only you could manually open the vent flap as needed. Sorry I don't have a clue where to buy a replacement cable. That big blower sure is sweet eh!
