Re: '70 Renegade Help

Hmmm.....

Have you tried a multimeter on it to see what it might do?

What color are the wires going to it and is the one disconnected all the
time with no ill effects?

Can you find the other end of the 'brown'? wire if that's the color?

I see a mess of 'custom' wiring.... That can mean duplicate parts.

The ammeter doesn't use a resistor.

The wipers use a circuit breaker....

Ahh, brown wire it looks like.

Alternator excite wire maybe. Could be they upgraded from a generator
to an alternator right around then and the excite for the alternator
needed a resistor on it?

Just a guess.....

My guess is the red and green wires are to his after market amp
gauge, breaking the connection at the GM starter solenoid.

The dana 44 in the rear of my CJ has one piece, 30 spline axle shafts.
I pulled one and checked. It *might* have been swapped in, but I doubt
it since the rest of the vehicle has been left pretty much stock. I do
know that it says Kaiser on it but it isn't stored locally so I can't
easily check details. If it were really important I could probably get
in touch with at least one of the previous owners who had it years ago.
The guy I bought it from never did much with it and probably knew less
about it than I did.

The best thing about it (other than the rear axle) is that the frame
hasn't been butchered, so it is a good project rig. It may be possible
to repair the body but it will be a lot of work.
