6cyl 4.0/243 oil filter adaptor leaking
Am looking at buying a Cherokee but there is an oil leak from what
appears to be a right angle adaptor for the oil filter...Anyone know how to tighten/loosen/remove the adaptor and what holds it to the block???...Allen head/bolt/bolts and what size wrench????Thanks...David, |
Re: 6cyl 4.0/243 oil filter adaptor leaking
That is an easy fix! First go to the DEALER and ask for an oil
filter adapter "Repair Kit" and it will come with all the O-rings you are going to need. The end of the adapter pointing toward the frame rail has a TORX driver depression in it that you can't see. I don't remember what size it is, but do NOT buy a cheap one, try to find a one piece Impact style that is made in USA. Just unscrew that bolt, disasseble the whole thing and reassemble with the new O-rings. During dissassembly, I had to "help" the Torx driver along with by Channel Locks on the head of that large mounting bolt to keep from rounding out the drive depression! Good Luck, Bruce |

It depends on the year. My '93 had a 14 mm (9/16") allen hidden in
that dirt. |
