4.0L engines that I CAN'T use?

Okay, I've done all my research and I am finally ready to transplant the 258
in my 87 YJ with a 4.0L. I've already got an AX-15 in it, so I just need
the motor.

My question is: Are there any 4.0L engines that will NOT work for me? I
know that the comp and flywheel have to come from a manual donor, but other
than that my understanding is that ANY Jeep 4.0L will do. All the way up to
2003.

I'm sure some stuff like exhaust or the air box may not fit if it comes from
a non-Wrangler. I'm just looking for any major showstoppers or gotchas I may
run in to if I end up getting the motor out of a Grand Cherokee or a 2001 TJ
or something.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

There are pilot bearing differences, but if the AX-15 came form a
4.0 they should be the same.

That would be the only difference I could see, too. Be careful about
the pilot - they also made an AX15 with a cut down pilot shaft to fit
the smaller BA10/5 size pilot bushing (which I couldn't find anywhere
locally). Either way, you can get a pilot to fit. If it's the cut
down shaft, there is a GM pilot bushing that has the correct inside
dimension but it needs about .005 taken off the outside to make it fit
right - easy enough to do with a drill and some emory cloth.
