Re: 2000 XJ belt, filter, and AT fluid.

OK, I'll give them a call. Not trying to be rude, but why would the tube
hieght make a difference? How could I prime the tubing? Is it needed? How
many quarts are in a gallon anyway?

Re: 2000 XJ belt, filter, and AT fluid.

The tranny is normally a closed system, that is, it doesn't normally have to
'lift' fluid more than a few inches. If you have a bucket of ATF on the
floor and your XJ is on ramps then it will have to lift the fluid a couple
feet.

You could put the bucket up at tranny height on top of a box or something...

To prime the hose all you would need do is siphon a bit of ATF through the
suction hose before you connected it.

There are 4 quarts to a gallon so just a bit over 2 gallons total.

Let us know how this goes..

Re: 2000 XJ belt, filter, and AT fluid.

With your method you could put all 2 gallons in the bucket at once. If the
suction tube is long enough you can put the bucket alongside where you can
watch it....... when the supply bucket is getting low you can stop the
engine.

It would probably be best to buy an extra quart or two and hold them in
reserve in case you have to top off the tranny after the procedure. You can
always return any unused bottles...
