2000 Jeep Cherokee and Code P0432

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with about 76,000 miles. I change the oil
every 2-3000 miles, pcv, plugs, air, fuel. I am fanatical with the
service of the vehicle. I put lots of highway miles on it.

Just recently my check engine light came on. I stopped at 'the zone'
and they pulled a P0432 code. The code translated to 'Main Catalyst
Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2'. I thought that the fix was cut and
dry, replace both O2 sensors (never changed). However reading thru a
couple news threads i'm starting to doubt my diagnosis. Furthur
looking at the other codes there are specific code for O2 sensors that
malfunction. Can some one help or shed some light?

Thanx,

Bohack

Generaly speaking a Catalyst low effeciency code can only be cured by
replacing the cat. The PCM compares the readings of the sensors in
front of the cat and after the cat, and if it doesn't like the
readings, it decides that the cat is no longer working properly.
Take it to the dealer, the cat should still be under factory
emmissions warranty, but do it soon, I think the upper mileage limit
is 80K.
