2000 Cherokee Liftgate Ajar

My liftgate ajar light stays illuminated on my dash and the liftgate is
seated properly.
Is this an easily serviceable issue? Could it be a loose wire in the
latch mechanism? Thanks for your help.

Check for a pin switch that may have been broken or had some
corrosion. Not exactly sure if your model used a tilt switch or not.

Thanks Doug. Where would I look for the pin switch?

Not sure. I've got a 93 and was just thinking off the top of my noggin.
on mine it's burried by the latch assembly and you have to remove the
plastic to get at it. It's pressed in by a plastic paddle that gets
depressed when the door latches. On one model I saw it on the passenger
side half way up, but honestly I don't remember if it was a Jeep or not.
