2 stroke gas in a 2.5 TJ?
Ok, so with gas prices through the roof I'm eyeing all my premixed
snowmobile, chainsaw, and outboard gas sitting in the garage and figure what the heck. My question is, if I dilute it by only adding a gallon or 2 and then top off the tank with regular gas will it hurt anything? I've heard rumor that it can potentially screw up some sensors? |

Two cycle oil is many times more expensive than gasoline.

Re: 2 stroke gas in a 2.5 TJ?
Don't do it. To save $3, you'd risk screwing up your engine and/or its
sensors with 50:1? Rich M wrote: > Ok, so with gas prices through the roof I'm eyeing all my premixed > snowmobile, chainsaw, and outboard gas sitting in the garage and figure > what the heck. If diluted with a nearly full tank of fresh gas, pre-mix will NOT screw up anything in your engine. A 50:1 mix represents only a tiny amount of oil - less than 1 ounce per gallon of pre-mix. I have done this for decades with no ill results. I also dispose of slightly stale fuel in the same manner. Don't put in more than a gallon or two of premix into your small TJ tank. John Davies |
