1999 and New Jeep Grand Cherokee's
Hey everyone, I am looking in to getting a newer jeep, as I have a '98.
Does the 1999 and newer model have a better cooling system?? I have talked to some people and they say that there is a night and day difference between the two cars, as Jeep only used 120 parts from previous model year, and the rest new. Thanks! |
Re: 1999 and New Jeep Grand Cherokee's
I had a '96 5.2L and now a '99 4.7L. Can't say I had any operational
problems with the cooling system on either model. By "cooling system", you mean engine cooling, right? If you mean the heating and air conditioning, then the newer model is crap. If you buy one, make sure the HVAC system has been rebuilt already. It's a $2000 problem that they all have. Yes, they're very different. I like the look of the '99 but, honestly, I thought the '96 was a better car. -rev On Jun 12, 9:20 am, "McNick" <mcnick...@hotmail.com> wrote: > Hey everyone, I am looking in to getting a newer jeep, as I have a '98. > Does the 1999 and newer model have a better cooling system?? Re: 1999 and New Jeep Grand Cherokee's
We have had to replace the relay for the electric cooling fan a number of
times and the fan itself once on our '99. As long as the fan is working though, it has never had any over-heating issues. The HVAC system always works as expected, not one issue with it except the dash vents are poor at directing flow. 4.0l with 130,000 miles. Cheers. From what I've read, the failure rate of the dual zone blend door assembly is 100% by ~75k miles. I bought mine at 80k miles and it was already broken (got a good deal on it for that reason and then fixed it myself). First it'll blow cold air only from one side, then eventually both sides with no heat. Not much fun in the winter time. Now the evaporator core is leaking so it all has to come apart again.
