Re: 1997 Cherokee: how to connect to 12V power?

1997 JGC Owners Manual page 200/201 shows cavities A and D as open.
The lower right kick panel removes after taking out the two screws.
Cavity A is for the power antenna (export only) and cavity D is not
used. Both have pins in place. The shop manual shows that pin 2 in A
and pin 30 in D may be 12 volt source. Pin 2 is the lower left pin
and pin 30 is top center. Pin 2 is shared with the turn flasher and
should be hot all the time. I have no information on cavity D.

Remember to use the proper meter to test the pins and after you think
you have found what you need to back track and find out what else is
on that circuit. Don't want to overload something important!

Another alternative is to bring a wire from the underhood power
distribution center through the firewall (find a grommet and poke
thru). There is at least one hot lead available in the PDC but it is
not fused. Similar warning.

Third opportunity is to tap the cigar lighter fuse 14 (switched) or
power outlet fuse 21 at the dash center. Easy to get to. Works fine
for the CB radio.

This project is a great one to justify buying a shop manual. See
section 8W-12.

BTW what are you connecting?

Enjoy
