Transmission question
Hi all!!!!! I have a 2003 Liberty sport 3.7 with o/d transmission with 140 000 km. I replaced the transmission filter with an OEM one and oil as well OEM ATF+4..... I did this yesterday and now when it downshift from overdrive to drive in like a SHUTTER, a small hard shift.......only happens from o/d to third. The transmission upshift and downshift beautifully besides that.
I had no issues before, the oil was just to say not RED in color anymore but still smelled like transmission oil. Anyone with an answer why it's doing this.......dirty solenoid, valve body.....filter screen was dirty but no fillings at all......any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JIMSTER:banana: |
Re: Transmission question
Hello Jimster,
I would normally recommend that you get the dealer to do transmission service, as they have the computer to reset the TCM so it will re-learn the shifts again with the new oil. What I would do now is take it out on the highway for a 30 minute run and check dipstick in park, while still running, to make sure that your transmission fluid level is spot on, not under or over. They are sensitive to correct fluid levels. I also add some LubeGard red (ok with ATF+4) as long as it does not push fluid level over. Link LubeGard: http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-112/LUBE...uid+Protectant Also I use this in power steering to keep pump quiet and smother in cold weather. http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-199/LUBE...Steering+Fluid |
